I'mgreatlyhonoredtohavetheopportunitytosharemyteachingideaswithyou.IamNo.8andmytopicis“AnighttheEarthDidn'tSleep”takenfromUnit4,Book1.Mypresentationconsistsof6parts:
Theanalysisofteachingmaterial;teachingmethods;learningmethods;teachingprocedures,teachingassessment,blackboarddesignandtimedivision.
Part1TheAnalysisoftheTeachingMaterial
Thispartconsistsof3aspects
1.Statusandfunctionofthispassage
Thisreadingpassageisthehighlightofthisunit.ItmainlytalksabutthebiggestearthquakewhichhitTangshanin1976.Bydescribingtheterribledisaster,studentscanknowmoreinformationabouttheearthquakesandfeelprouderofourgreatnationandgreatpeople.Soitnotonlycontainsthemostimportantwordsandsentencestructuresofthisunitbutalsoembodiesthethemeofthiswholeunit.
2.Teachingaims
1)Knowledgeaims:
Tohelpthestudentsmastertheusageofimportantwords,phrasesandsentencepatterns,especiallytheattributiveclauses.Guidethestudentstousethesevocabulariesandsentencepatternstodescribeadisaster.
2)Abilityaims:
Todevelopss’4basicskills,especiallyreadingskills,suchasskimming,scanning,guessingandconcluding;detailedreading,studyreadingandappreciation.Guidethemtofindtheclueofsuchanarrativestyleandusethesereadingskillstocollectanddealwithinformation.Meanwhile,encouragethemtoexpresstheirownopinionsusingthelanguagetheylearnedintheclassandcultivatetheirabilitytocooperatewithothers.
3)Emotionalaims:
Getthesstoknowmoreknowledgeaboutanearthquakeandknowhowtosurviveanearthquake.ThengetthemtolearnfromthebraveryofpeopleinTangshantofacetherealityandrebuildthecity,thusstrengtheningtheirstrongwillandmakethemloveournationandpeople.

3. Situationalapproachenablesthesstobeactiveandcreative.
4. Multi-mediaassistancearousesthess’interest,curiosityanddesireforlearning.

Asisdescribedinmoderneducationaltheory,“theprocessofobtaingknowledgeismoreimportantthanobtainingknowledgeitself”,soIwilltrytoarousethess’potentialandmakethemobtainknowledgebywayofautonomousstudyandcooperation,andatthesametimeformgoodlearningmethodstoimprovetheirreading,speaking,andwritingabilities.

Discussthe2questionsinpre-readingpartandreporttheirresulttothewholeclass.
Thepurposeofthisstepistorevisesomewordsandenrichthess’backgroundknowledgeaboutearthquakesbybrainstorming.
