In2009therewerealargenumberofvisitorstoChinaongrouporindependenttour.Buttherewerechangesinthenumbersofvistorsfromdifferentcountries.Someincreasedbutsomedecreased.ThegreatestchangehappenedinBangladesh.ThenumberofvisitorsfromBangladeshwasdown------therewere70%fewergrouptourvisitorsand48%independenttravelersthantheyearbefore.VisitorsfromArgentinawereupby53%forgrouptoursand26%forindependenttravelers.ThenumberofvisitorsfromSwedenwasupby24%forgrouptoursand15%forindependenttravelers.

Asthegraphshows,ChineseexportsalmostremainedsteadyinJanuarylastyear.InFebruary,theywentuprapidly.Inthenextthreemonths,theyfluctuatedbetween20billionand25billion.FromMaytoOctober,exportssawaslightdecrease,thenasmallincreaseinNovember.InDecember,therewasasignificantincrease.Butafterthat,Chineseexportsfelldramatically.

Ithinkthereareprobablythreereasonsfortheirdifferences.First,becauseoftheinfluenceofdifferentsocialandfamilyvalues,ChinesestudentshaveformedthehabitofaskingformoneyfromtheirparentswhileAmericanstudentshavedevelopedmoresenseofbeingfinanciallyindependent.Second,mostChineseparentsdevotetoomuchcaretotheirchildrenandtheywouldrathersaveuptoaffordtheirchildren’seducationratherthanencouragethemtotakepart-timejobs.ButinAmerica,manyparentspaymoreattentiontodevelopingthestudents’abilityofself-reliance,sotheyencouragetheirchildrentofindpart-timejobtoearnsomemoneybythemselves.Third,sinceAmericaismoredevelopedthanChina,itisrelativelyeasyforstudentstofindparttimejobs.InChina,suchopportunitiesareratherrare.
