Todayisanexcellentdayforsmallimprovements.Whateverisworkingfor
you,findawaytoimproveitjustalittle.There’snoneedtomakeahuge
change,justasmallone,somethingyoucandorightnow.
Ifyoucalledjustoneadditionalcustomereachday,overthecourseofthe
nextmonthyouwouldtalktoabout20newpeople.Ifyoulearnedjustonemore
newwordeachday,inthenextyearyouwouldincreaseyourvocabularybymore
than300words.
Smallimprovementscanaddupovertimeintobigacplishments.Look
aroundyou.Considertheworkyoudoeachday.Thinkabouthowyoucoulddoit
justalittlebitbetter.
Inamarathonrace,eachstepthewinnertakesisjustalittlebitlonger
andalittlebitfasterthaneachstridetakenbythe100thplacefinisher.Yet
overthecourseoftherace,thatsmalldifferenceaddsupinabigway.
Dojustalittlebitmoretoday,andtomorrowtoo,andeachdayafterthat.
Anyonecanmakejustasmallimprovement,andthatcanmakeabig,big
difference.

howshefinallyachievedherlifetimegoalasanathlete,anextreme100-mile
swimfromCubatoFlorida,atage64.Hearherstory.
ItsthefifthtimeDianaNyadstandontheCubanshorebelievingagainthat
she’sgoingtomakeitallthewayacrossthatvast,dangerouswildernessofan
ocean.
Lifeisaboutthejourney,butnotreallythedestination.Wevebeenona
journey.Letsfaceit,wereallonaone-waystreet.Whatarewegoingtodoas
wegoforwardtohavenoregretslookingbackTeddyRooseveltewasfloating
aroundinherbrainoverthepastyearsintraining.Itsays,“Yougoaheadand
sitbackinyourfortablechairasacriticoranobserver,whilethebrave
onegetsinthering,engages,getsbloodyanddirty,andfailsoverandover
andoveragain.Yetheisntafraidortimidandliveslifeinaboldway.”When
youachieveyourdreams,itsnotsomuchwhatyougetaswhoyouhavebeein
achievingthem.
Youhaveadreamandobstaclesinfrontofyouaswealldo.Noneofus
evergetthroughthislifewithoutheartache,withoutturmoil.Believein
perseveranceandhavefaith.Getbackupagainwhenyoucangetknockeddownand
youwillfindyourway.
“Ihavethreemessages,”saidthebreathlessNyad.“Thefirstisweshould
neverevergiveup.Thesecondisyouarenevertoooldtochaseyourdreams.
Andthethirdisthatitlookslikethemostsolitaryendeavorintheworldbut
ittakesateam.”
HellenKellersaid,“Althoughtheworldisfullofsuffering,itisfull
alsooftheoveringofit.”Peoplealwaysfailbecausetheystoptrying,not
becausetheyencountertheunbeatabledifficulties.“Never,nevergiveup”means
tokeeptryingandneverstopworkingforyourgoals.Ithinkit’saverygood
pieceofadviceforallofusandthisisthemostimportantthingthatcanhelp
ustoachieveourgoals.
IamquitesurethateverybodyknowsThomasEdison.Whysomanypeople
triedtoinventtheelectricl,butonlyThomasEdisonsucceedIfEdison,like
manyothers,hadbeenstiltedbyrepeatedfailures,therewouldbenovibrant
moderncitiesatnight.Hissuccessprovesthatifapersonisnotscaredby
seeminglyinsurmountableadversity,hecanfindthewaytosuccess..
Inmyopinion,neverstopworkingforyourgoaldoesn’tmeanyoumustbe
successful.Itdoesntevenmeanthatyoumustachieveyourgoal,butitsvery
importanttokeepitinyourmind.Thereareenoughunfavorableconditionswhich
makeourlivesdifficult,butwhatimportantforusistomakeeffortstowards
yourgoaloryourdream.Ifyouhavegivenyourbestforyourgoaloryour
dream,whetheryousucceedornot,atleastyouwontleaveanyregretinyour
life.
Dontgiveupworkingforyourgoaloryourdream.Ifyousucceed,youwill
tastegreatjoyinyourlife.Ifyoudontsucceed,youwonthaveregretinyour
lifebecauseyouhavegivenyourbest.
Dreamsarehardtofollow,holdonandtherewillbetomorrow.Youwill
findthewaywiththestrengthtocarryon.Don’tgiveup.

Weoftenhearpeoplesay,“Nevergiveup.”Thesecanbeencouragingwords
andwordsofdetermination.Apersonwhobelievesinthemwillkeeptryingto
reachhisgoalnomatterhowmanytimeshefails.Inmyopinion,thequalityof
determinationtosucceedisanimportantonetohave.Therefore,Ibelievethat
weshouldnevergiveup.
Onereasonisthatifwegiveuptooeasily,wewillrarelyachieve
anything.Itisnotunusualforustofailinourfirstattemptatsomething
new,soweshouldnotfeeldiscouragedandshouldtryagain.Besides,ifwe
alwaysgiveupwhenwefail,wewillnotbeabletodevelopnewskillsandgrow
aspeople.Anotherreasonweshouldnevergiveupisthatwecanlearnfromour
mistakesonlyifwemakeaneweffort.Ifwedonottryagain,thelessonwe
havelearnediswasted.Finally,weshouldnevergiveupbecauseasweworkto
reachourgoals,wedevelopconfidence,andthisconfidencecanhelpussucceed
inotherareasofourlives.Ifweneverchallengeourselves,wewillbeginto
doubtourabilities.
Inshort,itisimportantthatwedonotgiveupwhenworkingforour
goals.Whetherwesucceedintheendornot,wewilllearnsomething,andwhat
welearnwillhelpustobeebetter,.moreconfidentpeople.Furthermore,if
wegiveup,wehavenonchanceofattainingourgoals,butifwekeeptrying,
thereisalwaysachancethatwewillsucceedoneday.

overethedifficultiesandfrustrationsIfaceinlife.Iconsidermyselfto
