Abstract Definitionofurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesisgiven,itsdesignprinciplesaresummarizedas:
human-centered,ecology-first,integratednatureandhumanity,highlightingregionalcharacteristics,unifiedplanningandoverallcoordination.Designofecologicalplantcommunity,designoftrafficnetworkandrevetmentmanagementisanalyzedtoexploredesigncontentsandtechniquesofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces.Intermsofthe
designofecologicalplantcommunity,theselectionoflandscapeplantsandlandscapingofwaterfrontgreenspacesareanalyzed;trafficnetworkisfurtherclassifiedintowatertraffic,waterfrontpathway,anddrivewaysystem;waterfrontrevetmentmanagementisspecificallydiscussedfromtheoriginalnaturalrevetment,naturalrevetmentreinforcedbynaturaldesigns,andnaturalrevetmentreinforcedbyartificialdesigns.Problemsinthemodernurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesareproposed,suchascontradictionsbetweendiversifiedfunctionsandsimpledesigns,lackofregionalchar-acteristics,viewersarekeptawayfromwater;countermeasuresarealsogiveninthehopeofpushingurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesinahealthydevelopmentroad,soastoimprovetheoveralllandscapequalityofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces.

Asagreatsourceoflife,waterisanindispensablecondition
forthesurvivalofhumanbeings.Peoplecannotlivewithoutwater,somanycitiesarebuiltbymountainsandwatertosatisfyitscitizens'loveforwater,andwaterfrontareasofthesecitiesalwayshavethemostbeautifulanddistinctivelandscapes.Urbanwaterfrontgreenspacesareessentialcomponentsofurbanwaterfrontareas,playingtheroleofbeautifyingwaterfrontareasandsatisfyingneedsofwater-lovingcitizens.Suchgreenspacesalwayshavezonalwatersasthecenter,andvaluelandscapeeffectsandgreeningfeaturesofbanks,theyareimportantresourcesfortheconstructionofurbanwaterfrontareas,becausetheycanprovideexcellentlandscapesforurbanlandscaping,workasidealeco-corridorsandalsohigh-gradegreenlinesofcities.AlongwiththedevelopmentofChinesecities,urbanwaterfrontgreenspaceshavedrawnmoreandmoreattentionfromthepublic,andhowtoproperlydesignurbanwaterfrontgreenspaceshasbecomeanurgenttaskofurbanconstruction.Thisstudy,byintroducingdefinition,designprinciples,contentsandtechniquesofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces,summarizesproblemsinthelandscapeplanningofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces,andproposessomecountermeasurestofacilitatethefutureconstructionofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces.
1 Definitionofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces
Urbanwaterfrontgreenspacesareeco-greencorridorswithbothecologicalandbeautificationeffects,containingwaterandland,richlandscapesandeco-information.Urbanwaterfrontgreenspacesaremostlydistributedalongrivers,lakesandseaasgreensceniclinesofcities.Thefollowing3concontentsareincluded:
A.Asapartofurbanpublicgreenspaces,itisgiventhepropertiesandcharacteristicsofurbanpublicgreenspaces;B.Asapartofurbanwaterfrontareas,itisajointwaterareaofurbanland(mainlygreenspaces)andwater(lake,riverandetc.);C.Asapartofurbanpublicspaces,itisinfluencedbymanyfactorsofcities,andhastocarryoutitsurbanfunctions,reflectproblemsofcities,showimagesofcitiesandholdupactivitiesofcitizens.
2 Landscapedesignprinciplesofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces
2.1Human-centered,ecology-first
Oneofthemostimportantfunctionsofwaterfrontgreenspacesistoprovideciti-zensafavorablewaterfrontplatformforenhancingcommuni-cationsamongpeople,soitsdesignshouldputusers'needsfirst.Ifthereareresidentialareasintheneighborhood,facili-tiesforchildrenandseniorsshouldbeinstalled;iftherearein-dustrialareasnearby,placesforthegatheringofpeoplewillnotbenecessary.Meanwhile,urbanwaterfrontgreenspacesplayalsotheroleofbeautifyingtheenvironment,reducingnoi-ses,andcreatingfavorableurbanecologicalspaces.AsChi-nesecitiesgrowbetterandbetter,ecologyhasattractedmoreandmoreattentionfromthepublic.Becauseurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesarelocatedonthefringesoflandandwater,theyarecharacterizedbybiodiversity,landscapeecologyprin-ciplesshouldbefollowedinitsdesign,withplantlandscapingastheprincipalpart,tocreatenaturalwaterfrontlandscapes.Meanwhile,humaninterventionsordamagesshouldbere-ducedtotheleasttomaintainecologicalbalance,highlightharmoniouscoexistenceofhumanandnature,thenthede-signedwaterfrontlandscapeswillbeabletoprotectenviron-ment,andalsosatisfyusers'demandsinlandscapeand

Theunificationofnatureandhumanityfocusesontheintegrationofnaturalenvironmentandhumanisticenvironmentinthedesignofurbanwaterfrontgreenspaces.Urbanwaterfrontgreenspacesseemplacesforentertainmentandrest,butfeaturesofthecity'shistoryandcultureshouldbefullyexploredforthedesign,thenexpressedbylandscapedesigntechniquestoshowtheprofoundhistoryandcultureofthecity,highlightitslandscapecharacteristics,andmaintainthecontinuityofitshistorycontext.TakingLiaochengCityforanexample,GuangyueMansionbuiltintheMingDynasty(1368-1644)islocatedinitsdowntownareas,Beijing-HangzhouCanalwhichisoneofthetwoengineeringwondersofancientChinapassesthecity,andtherearealsomanyfamousscenicareaslikeDongchangLake,HaiyuanPavilion,GuildHallofShanxiandShaanxi,soLiaochengCityalwaysfocusesitsdevelopmenttargetof"WaterCitybyNorthoftheYangtzeRiver,AncientCapitaloftheAncientCanal",whichfullyconsiderscharacteristicsoflocalhistoryandculture.Inaddition,theharmonybetweendesigncontentsandneighboringenvironmentshouldalsobevaluedtohighlightdistinctivefeaturesofthecity.
2.3Unifiedplanningandoverallcoordination
Urbanwaterfrontgreenspacesshouldberegardedasapartoftheurbanplanning,butnotanindependentunit,justliketheancientChinesestrategistsays,"theonegoodatplayinggamefocusesontheoverallsituation,buttheonenotgoodatitcaresaboutonlysinglemoves",sothelandscapedesignofurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesshouldalsotakeitsimpactonurbandevelopmentintoconsideration.Therefore,urbanwaterfrontgreenspacesshouldbeplannedinanall-aroundwayasawholesys-temfromtheperspectiveofregion.Meanwhile,basedonsatis-fyingitsbasicusefunctions,otherfunctionsofurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesinecology,landscapeandflood-preventionshouldalsobeconsideredtoconstructurbanpublicspaceswithmultiplefunctions.Thatistosay,landscapeplanningofurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesshouldhaveasystematicplanningpatternjustlikeconstructionengineering,andfullyconsiderdiversifieddemandsofthecity,becauseone-sidedplanningwillbeunfairandcauseunnecessaryloss.
3 Designcontentsandtechniques
Landscapeplanningofurbanwaterfrontgreenspacesincludesthedesignandtreatmentoffundamentalelementswithingreenspacessuchascompoundplantcommunities,roadpavementsystemandrevetment.
3.1Designofecologicalplantcommunities

Revetmentistheborderlinebetweenlandandwater,andforwater,itisalsothefrontedgeofland.Anexcellentrevetmentdesigncannotonlycreatefavorablewaterfrontgreenspacesandlandscapes,attracttourists,butalsoprotecteco-environmentofwaterfrontgreenspaces,inthissense,revetmentdesigndeterminestheattractivenessofwaterfrontgreenspaces.InChina,thereare3typesofmostly-appliedrevetments:
vertical,slopeandstaged;whiledeficienciesoftraditionalrevet-mentdesignshavebeengraduallydemonstrated,eco-environmenthasattractedmoreandmoreattentionfromthepublic,ecologicalrevetmenthasbecomeafocusintheecologicalplanningofwaterfrontgreenspaces.Ecologicalrevetmentmainlyincludesoriginalnaturalrevetment,naturalrevetmentreinforcedbynaturaldesigns,andnaturalrevetmentreinforcedbyartificialdesigns.
