3.1BasisofTaskBreakdown
Whenpeoplesetouttoaccomplishaproject,theyusuallyseparateitintoasequenceoftasksandfinishthemonebyone.Eachdesignprojectcanberegardedasanaggregateofactivities,rolesanddata.Herewedefineataskasasetofactivitiesandresourcesandalsohavingatleastoneobjective.Becauselargetaskscanbeseparatedintosmallones,ifweseparateaprojecttargetintoseverallower—levelobjectives,wedefinethattheprojectisbrokendownintosubtasksandeachobjectivemapstoasubtask.Obviouslyifeachsubtaskisaccomplished,theprojectissurelyfinished.SoTMSintegratesdesignactivitiesandresourcesthroughplanningthesetasks.

Accordingtotheabovebasis,aprojectcanbeseparatedintoseveralsubtasks.Andwhenthisseparatingcontinues,itwillfinallybedecomposedintoatasktree.Excepttherootofthetreeisaproject,alleavesandbranchesaresubtasks.Sinceadesignprojectcanbeseparatedintoatasktree,allitsresourcescanbeaddedtoitdependingontheirrelationship.Forexample,aSmall-Sized-Satellite.

Thelogicconstraintismuchmorecomplicated.Itdefineslogicrelationshipamongmultipletasks.
