There’snodenyingthatthenewsofenticingforeignteacherstoourschoolsisawin-winproject.Suchprojectsmeananotherstepforwardinimprovingthelevelofeducationinboththetwocountries,andtothinkoptimistically,eventhewholeworld.
AsfarasI’mconcerned,astorecruitforeignstudentsdemonstratesthestrengthofoureducation,toenticeforeignteachersalsohighlightstheprosperityofourcountry.Afterall,noteveryprofessorwantstoteachinacountrywherethere’snodevelopmentprospect.Anotherunavoidablereasonisthatwehaveattachedmuchimportancetosciencestudywithtimegoesby,forwehaverecognizedhowsignificantscienceistoeconomicgrowth.Thegovernmenthasplacedstressonthedevelopmentofscience,andthusintroducesforeignprestigiousprofessorswhateverthecost.Itiswidelyacknowledgedthatprofessorsarekeenonscientificstudy.Besides,theprogramalsoprovidesthoseoverseasChineseandethnicChinese,whoareeagertorepaywhatthemotherlandhasgiventhem---mostoftheforeignerscometoChinaareChinese-born.Ofcourse,anessentialconditionistheaccelerationofglobalization.
Theprojectbenefitsbothsides.TothinkintheChineseshoes,wecannotonlyrecruitmoreexcellentstudentsandliftourinternationalcompetitivenessbymeansofthefameoftheprofessorsintroduced,butalsoimproveourlevelofsciencestudy,stoppingthestatusofbeinglackofsciencetalents.Another,suchprogramalsoleadstoabetterunderstandingbetweenChinaandothercountries.Lastbutnottheleast,thestudents’papersinEnglishhelpwithestablishinginternationalrecognitionofscholars.
Ontheotherside,there’snoharmtotheforeigncountries.Thefleeofacademicsisnolongeraheadacheconcern,foritisgoingthroughaphaseofrapidinternationalization.TheacademicsgotoChinaforaperiodoftimedoesn’tmeantheyhavedefected,oppositely,theybringbackvaluableknowledgeofthecustominChina,andaredevotedtoestablishingfriendshipwitheachother.
We,however,shouldalsobeawareoftheproblemsanddisadvantages.Weknowthatnotalladvancedprofessorsarewell-known,forsomereason.Suchasbeingindifferenttofameandfortune,notrecognizedachievements,andsoon.Butwefocussomuchonthefameoftheacademicsthatweignoremanyothertalents.Another,wecareexcessivelyonpoliticalissues,soastointroduceonlystemsubjects,whichisthought“politicallyneutral”.Butinmyopinion,socialscienceandhumanitiesacademicsarealsoimportantintheconstructionofsocialistsociety.Weoughtto,andmustlearnfromdevelopedcountriesabouttheirthinkingandideas.Asaresult,weshouldemancipatingthemind,andlearnfromthegoodfactors.
Now,manyforeignacademicsaregoingtoChinaandenergizeoureducationsystem.Ihopetoreinforcetherelationship,andgetforwardmuchinthefuture.
