LastThursday,however,agroupofdoctorsaskedthegovernmenttotakemilkoutofthelunchprogram.ThePhysiciansCommitteeforResponsibleMedicine(PCRM)says,“Milkishighinsugar,highinfatandhighinanimalprotein,allofwhichhaveunhealthyeffectsonhealth.”“Oneoftheonlyreasonspeopleprefermilkis
that
itisgoingtohelpbuildstrongbones,”saysDr.NealBarnard,presidentofthePCRM.Therearebetterandhealthierwaystogetcalciumsuchaseatingbeans,broccoli,cerealsandtofu.Orangejuiceandsoymilkthathavecalciumaddedtothemalsoprovidethenutrient.
Ofcourse,calciumisimportantforhealthybonesandteeth,butyourgenes,howmuchvitaminyoutakeinandgettinganhour’sworthofexerciseeverydayallplayapart.
